What is an Aromatherapist?

Aromatherapy, also referred to as Essential Oil therapy, can be defined as the art and science of utilizing naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants to balance, harmonize and promote the health of body, mind and spirit.

The Canadian Federation of Aromatherapists was formed in early 1993 by a group of individuals concerned with the tremendous growth and popularity of Aromatherapy.

These individuals, from varying backgrounds, recognized that there was no governing body or organization for the general public to call for information, or to verify that those claiming to be Aromatherapists were indeed qualified.

They felt there needed to be a central number where the public could obtain information on aromatherapy products and education. A decision was made to form the CFA and after much careful planning and work by the founding members, the organization was born.
