Cough Syrup


As a parent, having items on-hand to help when you or your child aren’t feeling well is always key.


If you’re suffering from a sore throat or cough, try making this natural cough syrup for symptom relief and healing benefits.



  • ¾ cup Honey

  • ½ cup Water

  • 1 Onion (chopped)

  • 2 cloves Garlic (chopped)



Combine ingredients, cover, and let sit overnight at room temperature. Strain, and use the liquid as a cough syrup. Take 1 teaspoon every 1-2 hours as needed. Store the liquid in the refrigerator.


Honey, Onion, and Garlic are all naturally antimicrobial, and honey also soothes the throat while relaxing the cough reflex. Garlic and onion lose some of their antimicrobial properties when cooked, so keeping them raw ensures the most benefits.
