Easy Breakfast Smoothie

Many of us are not fond of having breakfast. But breakfast is VERY important, as it "breaks" the "fast" after many hours of not feeding our bodies.

This smoothie recipe is healthy, full of nutrients and fresh ingredients, and uses the power of protein to keep our bodies fuelled.

One of our favourite protein powders is the HEMP protein powder, as it's clean, non-allergenic, gluten-free, and anyone can enjoy it. The more protein you add to this smoothie, the thicker the consistency will be. If the consistency turns out too thick, just add more liquid ingredients and voila!

Ingredients (per person, for a large smoothie):

  • 1 large banana, peeled and cut into chunks

  • 1 Cup berries (strawberries, blueberries, or a combo) - fresh or frozen

  • 1 Cup unsweetened almond or hemp milk

  • 2 Tbsp. maple syrup (organic and natural is best!)

  • 1 Cup raw baby spinach leaves

  • 1 Tbsp. raw walnuts

  • 2 Tbsp. Hemp protein powder

How to make it:

If you don't have a 'Bullet' type blender (like THIS), we highly recommend you invest in one - they're easy to use, powerful, and the easiest to clean as well. Otherwise you can use a blender to pulse ingredients together until smooth and frothy.

Note on flavour:

After all ingredients are well combined and blended, you may adjust the flavour by adding a bit more maple syrup. Good options are also cinnamon, hemp seeds.

We do not recommend using any other fruits as they can be too sugary and high in fructose, which is not the best thing to digest first thing in the morning.

If you don't like walnuts, you may omit them altogether - however walnuts are high in good fats, which your brain uses for power and memory!
