Better Eyesight, Naturally

According to Greg Marsh, a natural vision coach, clear vision is attainable at any age – even if you’re already wearing strong corrective lenses.

The method he teaches is called “Bates Method” and it was developed over 100 years ago. It is said to be so effective that optometrists lobbied politicians to ban it!

Watch this video, as Dr. Mercola interviews Greg Marsh:

Bates Method is based on the premise that when you strain your eyes – such as when you squint, your eyeballs contort and make your vision blurry, altering where the vision ‘lands’ on your retina.

The theory is based on your vision not being compromised because of weak eye muscles, as they are strong enough, but because they are constantly “tensed” in order to work properly. Unfortunately when you wear glasses, you’re actually retraining your eyes to strain in order to see all day. The first advice is to remove your glasses whenever you are able to safely do so, to assist your eyes in using their own strength.

How does it work?

  1. While standing, sway your body back and forth, which has a natural soothing effect on your brain, and can alone help you relax, which your eyes will immediately respond to.

  2. Palming: Place the centre of your palms gently over your eyes (you may want to lean slightly on the back of a chair to keep your balance safely).

  3. Relax while swaying and palming for 2 to 3 minutes. Focus on relaxing your eyes and “sending love” to your eyes through your palms. Try imagining your eyeballs as relaxing and resuming their natural round shape.

  4. After about 2 to 3 minutes, remove your hands and open your eyes. Notice whether anything looks clearer – usually it will!
