Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation. It is a tool to use as a complement to traditional medicine, and is practiced in many hospitals and medical care settings today. It is not massage, nor is it based on belief or suggestion, but it can assist the body in creating an environment to facilitate calm and healing.
The integrative therapy of Reiki is used for individuals to relax and strengthen their wellbeing by increasing their “life force energy.” As the flow of this energy moves through the physical, emotional and spiritual body, it can become blocked or stagnant; the energy is said to be unbalanced, and can explain why your body is “just feeling off.” Reiki supports by working to increase the energy flow through the body to support the reduction of pain, inflammation, anxiety, depression, and fatigue. The reduction of medication side effects and assistance in the recovery of surgery is also supported by Reiki.
Reiki is a wonderful compliment to your personal wellness program. Reiki practitioners’ understand that pain and illness in the body are exemplified by blocked energy pathways. It is their success to strengthen the flow of energy through these blocked or disturbed pathways thus enhancing the body’s ability to relax and support itself. The session can be done in-person or long distance. All ages can benefit from Reiki and the integrative therapy is being used not only for humans but for their pet’s general health and disposition.
"Life has many ways of testing a person's will. Either by Having nothing happen at all, or by having everything happen all at once."
– Paulo Coelho
“My husband was so very nervous for his surgery last week,” says Burlington resident Sonja Soares, “I asked Let It Go with Reiki for some help. They performed long distance Reiki for my husband before he went in for surgery and I couldn’t believe the difference. My husband was so calm and relaxed that it helped him have a successful surgery and post-op.”
A Reiki session is performed by a trained Reiki Practitioner and the client is fully clothed while comfortably reclining on a massage table or seated in a chair. Sessions can last from 30 to 90 minutes in-person or long distance. Distance Reiki works according to the Hermetic Law of Similarity, a law that holds we are all connected, as we are all energy matter and part of a larger whole.
The nature of Reiki energy is one of cooperation. It is important to note that Reiki works in harmony with other treatments and is therefore meant to be used as a complement to traditional care or as a personal relaxation or stress reducing tool. It is not a substitute for qualified or traditional care.•
